Martin Odegaard will not play for Norway during the October international break due a MCL injury in his left knee. Odegaard will miss Norway’s World Cup qualifier against Israel and a friendly against New Zealand.

Odegaard has been forced off the field in the first half of three separate Premier League matches this season. Martin Zubimendi replaced Odegaard in midfield for Arsenal.

“Immediately, he was uncomfortable,” manager Mikel Arteta said after Saturday’s game. “I just spoke to him, he’s not positive about it, he’s got a brace on, we’ll have to wait and see from the doctors, but we haven’t been very lucky with that either.

“We’ll find solutions, but obviously he’s our captain and is a player that gives us a completely different dimension with the things that he can do, especially in attacking.”
