President Vjosa Osmani said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić complained during the Brdo-Brion summit in Durrës about the agreement in the field of defense that Kosovo, Albania and Croatia signed in March of this year.

She said that Vučić was told that the agreement is for defense, not attack. Osmani said that she also mentioned to him the fact that the Albanian nation has never attacked or occupied anyone.

“As Kosovo, we are in favor of regional cooperation, but at the same time we will protect our state interest, we will protect our sovereignty, our territorial integrity. Even though Vučić had complaints about our pact, about the joint agreement between Kosovo, Albania, Croatia in the field of defense, he received our joint reconfirmation that this marks a cooperation aimed at our defense. And my response was that in the entire history of our existence as a nation, we have never attacked anyone, we have never invaded anyone, but we have always protected and will continue to protect ourselves and our territorial integrity,” she told Albanian public television.

Osmani said that Kosovo is threatened by Serbia and that the army will continue to be strengthened.

“So, our alliances are defensive alliances, to protect us from the dangers that come from others. In our specific case, for Kosovo the danger comes from Serbia and of course we will continue to strengthen our army, in order to protect every centimeter of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo and the freedom won with much effort and sacrifice.”
