The Netherlands announced the allocation of 55 million euros to the World Bank’s trust fund for Ukraine’s recovery programs. This statement was made by Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“The Netherlands will allocate 55 million euros to the World Bank fund ‘Aid, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reforms in Ukraine’ to help your country recover and rebuild”
– Dick Schoof, Prime Minister of the Netherlands
The Prime Minister also said that the country joined NATO’s PURL initiative (Priority List of Ukraine’s Needs) and expressed readiness to support partners in procuring critically important weapons from the United States.
“We have a new initiative. NATO nations will replenish military stocks. We were among the first to allocate a package of 100 million euros. Now our allies must make their contribution. Ireland, Ukraine have agreed to work together in drone production. Surely, we will continue to support with military equipment, ammunition, F-16s, and other weapons systems”
– Dick Schoof, Prime Minister of the Netherlands
The head of government stressed that Russia’s aggression is not limited to Ukraine: hybrid threats and pressure extend beyond a single country, so European partners must be ready for further joint action.
“With drones, for now we’re testing; we still see hybrid threats. Ukraine has provided assistance, for example, an anti-drone program. And your experience and knowledge are very strong for us in this field”
– Dick Schoof, Prime Minister of the Netherlands
Changes in funding and growing close cooperation with Ukraine within defense and recovery programs underscore the importance of Europe-wide partnership on security and regional stability. Such steps demonstrate the Netherlands’ firm stance in supporting Ukraine on the path to rebuilding and modernizing its defense capabilities within the framework of international obligations.
