The Slovenian energy company Petrol Group has commissioned a new solar power plant at the Atlantic Grupa Croatian food company’s facility in Hadžići, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This is the third such project for the two companies, following the solar installations at the Donat plant in Rogaška Slatina, Slovenia, and the Cedevita plant in Zagreb. In the region, Petrol Group has so far installed more than 40 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity in collaboration with various partners.
The power plant has a nominal capacity of approximately 591 kilowatt-peak (kWp), consisting of 1,430 panels and six inverters, and is expected to generate nearly 600 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity annually. The Argeta facility will consume 87.2 per cent of the generated power, while the remaining 12.8 per cent will be fed into the distribution grid. The solar panels are expected to cover 15 per cent of the factory’s annual electricity demand, reducing its carbon footprint by more than 442 tonnes of CO₂.
“At Atlantic Grupa, we strive to become as energy self-sufficient as possible and to reduce our carbon footprint,” said Neven Vranković, Vice President for Corporate Operations at Atlantic Grupa. “Our goal is to cut emissions by 58 per cent by 2030 compared to 2020 levels. The partnership with Petrol Group provides access to a comprehensive range of energy solutions in every country where we have key production and logistics facilities.”
