After a break of three weeks, 2021 world champion Loh Kean Yew is back in badminton BWF World Tour action at the 2025 Denmark Open in Odense this week from 14–19 October, with selected rounds available to stream live Olympic Channel via Olympics.com and the official Olympics app (territorial restrictions may apply).
He enters the late-season European swing having reached the quarter-finals or better at 10 events so far this season (eight of them on the World Tour circuit), including at his last outing, the Korea Open in September.
In Odense, Loh faces a tricky first-round test against Weng Hongyang of People’s Republic of China. It will be Loh’s first career meeting against Weng, ranked two places below him at 11th on the world rankings.
European champion and seventh seed Alex Lanier is a potential second-round opponent. The Frenchman knocked Loh out of this tournament last year at the quarter-finals, although the pair have split their 2025 season meetings 1–1.
The other seeded player in this quarter, and a potential last-eight opponent, is home favourite Anders Antonsen, the world no. 2. However, Loh has won four of their seven career clashes and also beat him in Odense in 2023.
