Cyprus’ tourism industry continues to show strong performance in 2025, with both international and domestic travel seeing substantial rises. The Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) indicates a 12 percent increase in tourist arrivals during September 2025, a month where 570,635 people visited the island as opposed to 509,463 during September 2024. This increase is just one element of a broader trend, and 3,604,790 visitors were seen on the island during the first nine months of 2025, a 10.3 percent rise over the same period for 2024.
UK Dominates as Cyprus’ Top Source Market
As always, the United Kingdom remains the largest source market for tourists visiting Cyprus, accounting for 31.4 percent of the total arrivals. However, Israel and Germany have seen significant increases in their visitor numbers, marking a shift in the island’s tourism demographics. The UK continues to be a key player in Cyprus’ tourism economy, with over 179,000 British visitors recorded in September 2025 alone.
Israel and Germany Lead the Charge in Market Growth
Tourism from Israel surged by an impressive 46.8 percent, contributing 80,115 visitors in September 2025. Similarly, Germany saw a strong growth rate of 39.7 percent, with 34,348 Germans visiting the island. These increases signal the growing appeal of Cyprus among European and Middle Eastern travelers, highlighting Cyprus’ growing popularity as a hub for both leisure tourism and cultural exploration.
Poland and Romania Contribute to Cyprus’ Tourist Boom
While the UK, Israel, and Germany dominate the visitor stats, Poland and Romania also showed promising growth. Poland contributed 7.9 percent of arrivals, while Romania experienced a 22.2 percent rise in visitors. This increase from Eastern Europe adds to Cyprus’ diversified visitor base, attracting travelers looking for a mix of cultural experiences, Mediterranean landscapes, and family-friendly activities.

Alongside the surge in inbound tourism, Cypriot residents also increased their travel abroad, with 166,129 residents returning from trips in September 2025. Greece remains the top destination for Cypriots, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom. The rise in outbound travel indicates that Cypriots are increasingly exploring international destinations, further enhancing the island’s interconnectedness with Europe and beyond.
