Just a few hours ago, MRT, the public broadcaster of North Macedonia, released part of the notes from its meeting with Bobi Andonov, who presented a complete proposal along with secured funding, aiming for the country’s return to Eurovision, with Bobi himself being the representative. Unfortunately, the Council rejected the proposal, meaning that North Macedonia will not return to the Contest in 2026 either.

In detail, Bobi Andonov presented a detailed plan regarding MRT’s overall approach to the Contest. However, the public broadcaster seems to have already made an informal decision to not participate, during the September 19 council meeting, when it was stated that proper preparation and strategy are needed for a possible return in 2027

Bobi Andonov himself confirmed the disappointing news for fans, commenting on an Instagram post about the matter.

“Eurovision 2026 would’ve been amazing, but after speaking with MRT, it looks like everything’s moving toward 2027 — and honestly, it feels right. This gives me time to build it properly and make it unforgettable.”

As it seems, North Macedonia’s last participation remains Andrea’s “Circles” in 2022, which ended up in 11th place of the second semi-final in Turin:
