SALINE COUNTY, Mo – A Malta Bend man is set to make his initial court appearance tomorrow in Saline County following a shots fired incident on Sunday. 

According to a probable cause statement, a woman came to the Saline County Sheriff’s office to report an incident involving her ex-husband and their son, 32-year-old Daniel Thomas Strahl.  She claimed Strahl was at threatening her ex with a firearm.  She also stated she believed Strahl was under the influence of methamphetamine. 

Deputies arrived at the residence and were able to get the victim safely out of the residence.  They were then able to get Strahl to exit and drop the handgun he was armed with.  During questioning, Strahl admitted to pointing the gun at his father’s head and firing shots both inside and outside of the residence.  Strahl also showed signs of being under the influence of drugs.  Deputies recovered the spent shell casings at the scene. 

Strahl faces two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and one count each of armed criminal action and first-degree harassment.  His initial court appearance is set for tomorrow at 1:30 pm.
