Poland reaffirms its backing for Morocco’s autonomy plan concerning the Sahara. Warsaw views this initiative, introduced by the kingdom in 2007, as «a serious, realistic, and pragmatic foundation for a lasting resolution» to this regional conflict.

This stance was articulated by the Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, in a joint statement issued on Tuesday, October 21, following a phone discussion with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

Currently, 23 European Union member states and over 120 countries endorse a sustainable solution under the framework of autonomy within Moroccan sovereignty, as highlighted by Moroccan diplomacy.

Poland is a member of the Visegrád Group, along with Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. This coalition had previously declared its support for the Moroccan proposal put forward in 2007 to address the Sahara issue.
