McKissic and sophomore running back JD Thompson led Spain Park on its final drive of the first half, with McKissic accounting for 33 yards and Thompson adding 13 yards on a seven-play, 62-yard drive that ended with senior offensive lineman Hudson Reed recovering a fumble in the end zone for a 42-0 halftime advantage.
Vakakes praised both McKissic and Thompson, who are each returning from injuries, for their contributions as the Jaguars prepare for the postseason.
“JD’s a fast kid—you know, he’s really fast,” Vakakes said. “Nic McKissic is coming back from injury, too, and he had a really good night. I feel like our kids are hitting their stride, and we’re trying to prepare for the playoffs.”
The Spain Park defense dominated, holding the Tigers to just 8 total yards in the first half and 33 yards for the game, allowing only five first downs.
“We had to keep them behind the chains,” Vakakes said of the defensive effort. “Third-and-threes and fourth-and-twos are what they want, so our kids did a good job on early downs.”
With a running clock in the second half, the Jaguars continued to roll with their backups in the game. Hudson Hibbard led Spain Park on a 10-play, 43-yard drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown run from John Malouf to seal the 49-0 shutout.
Bradley finished 4-of-5 passing for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Rego led all rushers with his 68-yard score, while McKissic added 41 yards and a touchdown. Hibbard chipped in 27 rushing yards.
Price led all receivers with 58 yards on two catches.
Spain Park will close out the 2025 regular season next Thursday at home against Gardendale for senior night.
“We’re going to approach it the same way we did this week and the same way we did the week before,” Vakakes said. “We have a saying around our place: ‘rinse and repeat’—we do the same things over and over.”
