Uzbekistan’s tourism sector has witnessed a remarkable upswing in 2025, welcoming over eight million international visitors within the first nine months of the year. The rise in arrivals from neighbouring nations such as Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, alongside increasing visits from China, Turkey, India, and South Korea, highlights Uzbekistan’s expanding global reach. Uzbekistan Sees a Surge in Foreign Tourism, Welcoming 8.6 Million Visitors in 2025
Uzbekistan has experienced a remarkable growth in foreign tourism, with around 8.6 million international visitors recorded between January and September 2025. This represents a significant increase of 2.8 million tourists, or a 49.3% rise, compared to the same period in the previous year, according to the National Statistics Agency.
A majority of these visitors hailed from neighboring countries, highlighting the region’s strong interconnectedness. The largest group of foreign tourists came from Kyrgyzstan, with 2.4 million arrivals. Kazakhstan followed closely behind, contributing 2 million tourists, while Tajikistan sent 1.9 million visitors to Uzbekistan. Russia ranked as the fourth largest source of tourists, with 757,100 Russian nationals making the trip, followed by Afghanistan with 343,600 visitors and Turkmenistan with 275,000.
Beyond the region, Uzbekistan also attracted a growing number of tourists from further afield. China emerged as a key market, with 176,900 tourists visiting Uzbekistan. Turkey followed with 129,900 visitors, and India contributed 55,800 tourists. South Korea also saw a notable presence, with 35,200 of its nationals visiting Uzbekistan during the first nine months of 2025.
This surge in tourism reflects Uzbekistan’s growing appeal as a destination for both regional and international travelers. The country’s rich cultural heritage, historical sites, and improving infrastructure continue to draw attention from visitors worldwide.
