During his appearance on Quelle Époque! French singer Patrick Fiori made a surprising announcement: he will represent Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. Known for proudly embracing his Corsican and Armenian roots, Fiori revealed the news live on France 2, catching even host Léa Salamé off guard.

From Mama Corsica to Papa Armenia?

While discussing his latest album Corsu Mezu Mezu 3 and his heritage, Patrick Fiori shared the unexpected update after fellow guest Benjamin Biolay jokingly mentioned how often he speaks about Armenia.

I will represent Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest (…) I’m getting in touch with the people in charge of it; in principle, it’s happening in 2027. For my mother, I already did Mama Corsica and three Corsu Mezu Mezu albums. But for the blue eyes of my father, Jacques Chouchayan, I’ll try to do this.

This isn’t the first time Patrick Fiori has mentioned such a project. Earlier this year, he told RFM and Europe 1 that he was seriously considering representing Armenia, even suggesting he might perform in a duet with an Armenian artist.

A familiar face returning to the Eurovision stage?

This announcement marks a symbolic return for Fiori, who already competed at Eurovision in 1993, representing France with his song Mama Corsica, where he achieved an impressive 4th place. Since then, he has built a celebrated career across France and beyond, known for his powerful voice and emotional interpretations. His potential comeback, this time under the Armenian flag, adds a fascinating new chapter to his journey, bridging both sides of his heritage.

    Armenia’s Eurovision History

In 2006, Armenia made their debut into the Eurovision Song Contest, where André represented the nation with his entry “Without Your Love”, placing 8th overall. Since their debut, Armenia has participated 16 times, 13 of which saw them make the Grand Final. Their best result, in 2008 and 2014, was 4th place; in 2008, Sirusho and “Qélé Qélé”, and in 2014, Aram MP3 with “Not Alone”.

In 2025, PARG represented Armenia with his song “Survivor”. He would go on to finish in 20th place, earning 72 points; 30 of which coming from the televote, while 42 came from the juries.
