President Bajram Begaj welcomed Syria’s official recognition of Kosovo’s independence and sovereignty.
He said the decision demonstrates Syria’s support for Kosovo and reinforces peace and stability in the Balkans.
“Thank you to everyone who made this recognition possible,” Begaj wrote on social media.
The agreement was signed today in Riyadh. According to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, the recognition was made possible with the support of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
Syria becomes the third country this year to recognize Kosovo, following Sudan and Kenya. The last country to recognize Kosovo before this was Israel in 2021. With Syria, Kosovo has now been recognized by 120 countries worldwide.
