VFS Global has introduced and simplified Bulgaria’s Long Term Visa D and Visa long application processes which benefits Indian applicants for Bulgaria Visa. Starting November 1 2025, applicants can submit visa applications at the New Delhi center which is the first of it’s kind and which has state of the art facilities. 5 other cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai will also have new centers by mid November. The system has been designed to enable students who want to further their education, work or join family members who live in Bulgaria. The procedure has made Bulgaria Visa application more user friendly.
The New Delhi Embassy of Bulgaria and VFS Global have completed their bilateral activities and the new visa system marks progress in the relations between Bulgaria and India. The new relations allow the Bulgarian visa applicants to avoid unnecessary travel to New Delhi and the long travel routes.“ Mobility between Bulgaria and India is easy and these agreements help to improve connections. Mobility has been enhanced with VFS Global and also other parties from Bulgaria,” states the Chief Operating Officer of VFS Global. Mr. Yummi Talwar and The Ambassador of Bulgaria to India, H. E Dr. Nikolai Yankov signed the agreement that was made on 24 of October 2025.
Expansion of Long-Term Visa Services
The launch of the long-term visa (D visa) services is an extension of the existing short-term visa (C visa) services, which VFS Global has been managing for the Government of Bulgaria since 2008. With the introduction of long-term visa services, Indian citizens can now apply for visas to Bulgaria for purposes such as education, employment, and family reunification, directly through VFS Global’s centers in their local regions.
According to Ambassador Dr. Nikolay Yankov, the introduction of the long-term visa services will “enhance people-to-people connections” and further strengthen the ties between India and Bulgaria. He expressed confidence that the expansion of services would facilitate smoother travel for Indian citizens to Bulgaria for various long-term opportunities.

How to Apply for Bulgaria’s Long-Term Visa
The application process for Bulgaria’s long-term visa services in India is now simpler, thanks to the newly opened centres. Starting 1 November 2025, applicants can conveniently book appointments through VFS Global’s official website. These centres are strategically located across India, allowing people from major cities to access visa services closer to home. The locations of the centres are:
- New Delhi (opened on 1 November 2025)
- Ahmedabad
- Bengaluru
- Chennai
- Kolkata
- Mumbai
Applicants are required to submit their documents and undergo biometric enrollment at one of the centres. VFS Global will handle the front-end administrative tasks, but the final decision on visa issuance rests solely with the Embassy of Bulgaria.
