After the volleyball season wrapped up and the dust settled, players from the Thompson Warriors, Oak Mountain Eagles, Chelsea Hornets, Helena Huskies and Spain Park Jaguars were selected to the Alabama High School Volleyball Coaches Association’s 2025 All-State Team.
In addition, Spain Park’s Justin Kisor earned one of the top honors in the state as he was named the Class 6A Coach of the Year.
In Kisor’s second season with the Jags, he helped Spain Park go from missing the playoffs behind a pair of Final Four teams to making the Final Four itself. The Jags finished a perfect 8-0 in Class 6A, Area 8 and made the South Super Regional Finals before bowing out to Hazel Green in the Final Four.
Spain Park also placed four players on the All-State teams for Class 6A, including three players on the first team. Seniors Cailyn Kyes, Bea Wiggins and Ja’Niyah Mosley each finished out their careers with All-State First Team selections.
This is Kyes’ third-straight year as an All-State pick, following up on Honorable Mentions in Class 7A in 2023 and Class 6A in 2024. Wiggins was selected to the main All-State team for the second-straight year after a Class 6A Second Team pick in 2024.
Mosley secured her first All-State honors as well as Peyton Harrington, who picked up an Honorable Mention as a sophomore.
In Class 7A, Thompson brought home three All-State selections as senior libero Kenzly Foote earned a First Team selection, junior outside hitter and setter Maddy Henderson picked up a Second Team selection and senior middle blocker Brielle Merriweather earned an Honorable Mention.
Foote and Henderson both appeared on the main All-State teams after earning Honorable Mentions last year, and Merriweather marked her first time on the All-State list.
Oak Mountain placed four players on the Class 7A Honorable Mentions list with seniors Betsy Smith, Caroline Whitehurst and Kate Gordon making it alongside junior Ally Ross. Whitehurst and Gordon also earned Honorable Mentions last year.
Chelsea secured four spots on the Class 6A All-State list headlined by junior outside hitter Alexis Rudolph making the Second Team. Senior libero Sophia Bagley, junior Aly Davis and sophomore Layne Moller all each earned Honorable Mentions.
Each of the four received All-State honors for the first time, following up on Chelsea’s five senior selections last year with a brand new roster.
Helena had four juniors make the All-State list for the first time as Honorable Mentions. Avery Cantley, Mady Mamucud, Monroe Bouler and Riley Woods each earned selections from the Huskies under first-year coach Destinee Briskey.
Despite making the Final Four in Class 5A and entering the playoffs as the No. 1 ranked team, the Briarwood Christian Lions were shut out from the All-State list. The same went for four more Super Regional teams in Westminster OM, Montevallo, Indian Springs and Vincent.
