Article cover

Battle of Malta is an annual “must-have” festival for European players seeking a beautiful setting, a pleasant atmosphere, and record-breaking player fields. Founded in 2012, the BOM brand consistently returns to Casino Malta. Over ten years, the event has earned a reputation as one of Europe’s largest poker events for both recreational and seasoned players. Back in 2014, it snagged the “Event of the Year” award in the sub-€2,000 buy-in category.

The tournament continually breaks its own records – the inaugural event in 2013 recorded 888 entries, evolving into a record-breaking 2024 edition with 5,799 entries and a prize pool of nearly €4.8 million, shattering the previous record of €3.8 million from 2019.

Record-Breaking 2025 Edition Concludes Today

This fall’s Battle of Malta 2025 is reaching its climax today, and we can definitively confirm we are witnessing a historic event. The Main Event’s €1.5 million guarantee at a €600 buy-in was completely obliterated, with entries hitting 6,039! The final prize pool amounts to €2,728,270, with the biggest shares being distributed today.

After all eight flights, 811 players advanced to Day 2, which over the next days whittled down to the last 38 semifinalists. Yesterday, around nine hours of play resulted in the creation of the final eight, following Dimitrios Amplianitis’s exit in 9th, a two-time side event titleholder.

The breathtaking final begins with Davis Modans from Latvia in the chipleader position with 96bb, barely surpassing second big stack Candido Cappiello, who starts with 95bb. Italian players dominate this table, occupying 5 out of the 8 seats. The final table chip count is as follows:
