Sebilj in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. — The Bosnian American Community Association is set to unveil the Sebilj, a traditional Bosnian fountain, in Utica.

The grand opening ceremony will occur at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 1304 Albany St.

The Sebilj, inspired by the historic fountain in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, symbolizes community, heritage and unity.

Hanka Grabovica, president of the Bosnian American Community Association, said, “The Sebilj is more than a monument—it’s a piece of our soul.”

“It honors our heritage, celebrates our contributions to this City, and symbolizes the friendship between the Bosnian community and the people of Utica,” she added.

The celebration will feature guest speakers, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and traditional Bosnian coffee and desserts.
