“Because no one has said anything official for five days about the shooting of Milan Vukašinović, I have filed a criminal complaint on behalf of his mother with the Higher Public Prosecutor in Prokuplje, for the criminal offense of ‘attempted aggravated murder’, against unknown persons — members of the Serbian Army, police, or the group led by Milan R,” lawyer Ivan Ninić announced last night on his X account, referring to the confirmed incident that took place six days ago near the administrative line, on the territory of Kosovo, above the village of Jelakce.

The incident occurred last Saturday afternoon, when Kosovo Serb Milan Vukašinović was shot and kidnapped. Today, Kosovan media report that the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Mitrovica has questioned one person in connection with the case, allegedly close to Vukašinović.

Background, Reactions from Institutions and the Political Scene

Lawyer Ninić made the incident public a few days ago via social media, asking a series of questions — including whether Vukašinović had been “literally executed,” whether his pericardium and left kidney had been removed, and confirming to KoSSev that he was on his way to pick up a friend when he disappeared.

It wasn’t until Monday — two days after the incident — that the Kosovo Police issued a statement, claiming that several masked individuals had reportedly entered Kosovo territory, shot Vukašinović, and then transported him into Serbia, where he was taken to Niš.

Police spokesman Baki Kelani refused to explain the two-day delay, stating that the case involved procedures related to KFOR and verification of the scene.

Kosovo’s top officials — President Vjosa Osmani, acting PM Albin Kurti, and acting Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla — all accused Serbia of attempting to destabilize Kosovo through this attack. However, the head of the EU Office in Kosovo urged caution in drawing conclusions.

Kosovan media also published an interview with Radoica Radomirović, alleged witness and former Deputy Minister for Communities and Return, who claimed that armed men in black-and-green uniforms emerged from the forest and accused Milan Radoičić of being behind the attack, describing him as someone who “always shoots from behind.”

Ninić Files Criminal Complaint, Proposes 15 Evidentiary Actions

Yesterday, Ninić stated that, with the family’s consent, he filed a criminal complaint for attempted murder, adding that he proposed 15 urgent investigative actions to the prosecutor.

“People are arrested every day over social media posts and accused of terrorism, while this man was literally hunted. His family cannot see him, the bullet is still lodged in his spine, and doctors, prosecutors, the army, the police — all of them are silent,” Ninić said.

He further criticized the lack of public statements from Serbian authorities, including the Kosovo Office, and noted that even media in Belgrade hesitated to report on the case in real time. “The prosecutor who allowed this wall of silence is the biggest disgrace to this country,” he added.

Ninić ended his post by criticizing the lack of reaction from parliamentary opposition and broader public indifference.

Uniforms Without Insignia?

In an earlier interview for TV Nova S, Ninić questioned the narrative put forward by Kosovan authorities, insisting that he had information suggesting the involvement of the Serbian Army, not the Gendarmerie.

“What’s symptomatic is that Milan Vukašinović has long been in conflict with the Serbian List, is not aligned with Vučić and Radoičić, and has faced certain problems because of that,” Ninić said, adding that Vukašinović still works in Kosovo institutions, unlike most other Kosovo Serbs.

He alleged that the attackers wore unmarked green and black uniforms and that three unlicensed jeeps possibly belonging to the Serbian Army were present at the scene.

What Happened?

Ninić said he was contacted by Vukašinović’s mother on Saturday evening. “She told me Milan left to pick up a friend near the administrative line, but he didn’t return. He managed to call from an ambulance, saying, ‘Mom, I’ve been shot’.”

According to Ninić’s collected information, Vukašinović was shot – “likely by a Serbian Army sniper.” His kidney and pericardium were removed, and the bullet remains lodged in his spine, the lawyer specified.

The family has limited access to information and has not been allowed to see him in hospital.

“Why did Serbian security forces shoot Vukašinović?” Ninić asked, saying there are “many questions, few answers.”

Prosecutor Questions One Person

According to Pristina-based Koha outlet, the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Mitrovica questioned one person close to the victim. “The case is being investigated in cooperation with the police,” said spokesman Valon Preteni.

KoSSev reached out to Serbia’s Interior Ministry, Defense Ministry, and Serbian Army for clarification but received no response by publication time.
