The push for the College Football Playoff is upon us and we now have an idea of how the committee is evaluating the season after the inaugural CFP rankings release.
Week 11 started off with a bang as Penn State gave No. 2 Indiana all it could handle before a dramatic drive in the final minute. The Hoosiers survived a Hail Mary attempt after some Heisman heroics from QB Fernando Mendoza to escape with a 27-24 win. That ran directly counter to the marquee showdown of the morning as No. 8 Texas Tech throttled No. 7 BYU in a one-sided affair.

The Aggies are tied with Alabama atop the SEC at 5-0 and could still take another step toward earning a spot in the SEC title game with a win Saturday. The task could be easier than it looked against Missouri with true freshman QB Matt Zollers making his first career start for the Tigers.

The Hawkeyes were a relatively surprising inclusion in the first set of CFP rankings. Oregon, meanwhile, was three spots lower than it is in the AP poll, likely due to a lack of quality wins so far. The Ducks haven’t beaten a ranked team yet, but they can help change the committee’s perception on Saturday.

It’s the Tigers’ first game under interim coach Frank Wilson after the firing of Brian Kelly. Can an LSU offense that has failed to live up to expectations keep up with Alabama’s and not turn the ball over? If not, Alabama will continue its march toward the SEC title game.
