This year’s opening ceremony is set to be attended by award-winning Irish writer Colum McCann and Italian journalist Cecilia Sala, host and creator of the Stories podcast.
Tuesday
St Martin’s Day
It may not be a public holiday like in parts of neighbouring Austria, but that doesn’t mean St Martin’s Day (or Festa di San Martino) isn’t celebrated around Italy.
The festival honours Martin of Tours – a Roman soldier who became a monk and then the bishop of Tours, France, in the 4th century AD – and is marked by traditions around the country.
Naples taxi strike
People in Naples won’t be able to travel by taxi on Tuesday, November 11th, due to a planned 14-hour driver strike scheduled to last from 8am until 10pm.
