Every year, as MedTech World grows, I am reminded of the spark that started it all — a vision born in Malta to create a truly global community where innovators, investors, and healthcare leaders could connect and collaborate. Looking back at 2025 so far, that vision feels more alive than ever. It has been a year of expansion, learning, and renewed purpose as we continue to build bridges between regions and redefine what it means to be part of the MedTech World family.

From Malta to the world

Our story began on a small island that has always punched above its weight, Malta. What started as a flagship event here has now evolved into a global network spanning four continents. Yet, even as our reach grows, Malta remains the heart of MedTech World.

With the MedTech Malta 2025 conference once again welcoming thousands of founders, investors, and policymakers to Valletta, it is three days filled with ideas, connections, and inspiration. The Mediterranean Conference Centre comes alive with discussions on emerging technologies, partnerships, and investment opportunities. For me, Malta is more than a venue; it is a symbol of how a local initiative grows into a truly international movement.

A year of milestones

2025 has already been a defining year for us. Our return to Dubai marked a major milestone when, for the first time, our gathering was formally approved and supported by both the Dubai Health Authority and Emirates Health Services. This recognition reaffirmed our shared mission with the region to accelerate the adoption of innovative healthcare technologies across the Gulf.

The Dubai conference was more than an event; it was a statement of intent. It brought together investors from the GCC, Europe, and North America alongside regulators and health system leaders to explore new opportunities. The discussions on regulation, capital formation, and innovation reflected the region’s growing appetite for meaningful collaboration. It was clear that the Middle East is ready to take a leading role in global MedTech conversations, and we are proud to be part of that journey.

Our presence in the United States also continued to grow this year. From our sessions at the Texas Medical Center in Houston to our collaboration with MedTech Innovator in San Jose, we have seen incredible enthusiasm from American entrepreneurs eager to connect globally. These experiences are paving the way for our first flagship U.S. conference, taking place in Florida in May 2026, which will feature our startup pitch competition and the MedTech World Awards.

Innovation is important, but it is the people behind it who make it meaningful

In Asia, our journey has been equally inspiring. From Singapore to Seoul and most recently Hong Kong, we have witnessed the energy and creativity driving innovation across the region. Each event has allowed us to connect with passionate founders, investors, and healthcare leaders who are shaping the next wave of MedTech innovation. The conversations in Asia remind us that innovation thrives where diversity and collaboration meet.

Malta’s growing MedTech potential

Even as we expand globally, Malta continues to strengthen its role as a key hub in Europe’s MedTech ecosystem. Its location between Europe and Africa, its skilled English-speaking workforce, and its adaptable regulatory framework make it an ideal launchpad for startups entering European markets.

We are also seeing growing interest in positioning Malta as a destination for clinical research and trials. By linking local hospitals, universities, and international partners, Malta could soon become a centre for early-stage clinical work in MedTech and digital health. The country’s compact size and strong healthcare infrastructure make it perfectly suited to agile testing and data-driven research.

Watching this transformation unfold has been deeply rewarding. What began as an event is now an ecosystem. Malta no longer just hosts discussions about innovation; it actively contributes to them.

The human side of innovation

One of the most fulfilling aspects of this journey is meeting the people behind the technologies. Founders who persevere despite setbacks, investors who believe in long-term impact, and healthcare professionals who remind us why innovation matters — these are the individuals who give MedTech World its heartbeat.

At every event, there is a moment when someone realizes they are not alone in their mission. That moment of connection is what defines our community. Innovation is important, but it is the people behind it who make it meaningful.

Looking ahead to 2026

Our 2026 calendar marks our most ambitious global series yet, with four flagship gatherings across the UAE, USA, Asia, and Europe.

We begin in Dubai from 11 to 13 February 2026 at the Intercontinental Festival City Hotel, where we will explore regulation, capital, and innovation in the GCC. Then, in Florida from 11 to 13 May 2026, we will host our first flagship U.S. conference.

Next, we turn to Asia, where Hong Kong will host our 3-day flagship event from 16 to 18 September 2026 at the Grand Hyatt. It will connect Asia’s thriving innovation hubs with global investors and thought leaders. Finally, we return home to Malta from 11 to 13 November 2026 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, celebrating the culmination of a year of collaboration and progress.

Each of these gatherings goes beyond being just a conference. They will be moments of connection, learning, and shared purpose.

A community built on purpose

As we prepare for the next chapter, I am reminded that MedTech World has always been more than a series of events. It is a movement built on collaboration, inclusivity, and a shared drive to improve global healthcare.

The year ahead is full of promise. New regions, new partnerships, and new opportunities to learn from one another await us. Yet, what matters most is that we continue to build with purpose, grounded in the same curiosity and community spirit that started our journey.

2025 has been a year of growth. 2026 will be a year of connection, as our global community comes together stronger and more united than ever.

And I cannot wait to see what we create next, together.
