POLAND OH- Poland’s girls basketball program is heading into a new season with a youthful roster and high hopes, as outlined in a recent season preview conversation between head coach Nick Blanch and Anthony Hartwig on YSN.

After losing three starters from last season, Nick Blanch faces the task of blending experienced seniors with a large group of freshmen—eight in all. Two senior captains, both recovering from injuries, will lead the way, while additional seniors are set to be key contributors both on and off the bench. “This year, we’re looking at anywhere from three to five freshmen rotating in,” Nick Blanch noted. “That’s what makes this team unique—never had a roster this young on the floor.”

The Northeast 8 (NE8) conference promises to be as competitive as ever, with teams closely matched and every game up for grabs. Nick Blanch recalled that last year’s champion had three losses and stressed that success will hinge on performance each night. Outside of the conference, Poland’s non-league schedule remains challenging, with new opponents joining familiar rivals. With the season opener on December 1 fast approaching, Nick Blanch is focused on building confidence among the younger players, promoting team chemistry, and maintaining the program’s strong work ethic. He also praised his returning coaching staff and the support team that keeps the program running smoothly. With a renewed sense of excitement and a fresh crop of talent, Poland fans can look forward to a season marked by growth, determination, and trademark Bulldog heart.
