A ceremonial opening took place in Bucharest for Romania’s first Ukrainian-language audio guide at the Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History. This opening underscores the growing interest in the Ukrainian language within Europe’s leading cultural institutions.
According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Romania, the event was announced through an official post on social media and was also confirmed by a government information service.
This step forms part of an international initiative led by Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska, aimed at promoting the Ukrainian language in prominent museums and landmarks around the world.
The ceremony was attended by Diana-Ștefana Băcuna, the State Secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Culture, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and the Ukrainian community, including children and schoolchildren temporarily staying in Romania.

The Ukrainian-language audio guide opens access to the exhibitions in Ukrainian, making knowledge more accessible and convenient for visitors who wish to deepen their understanding of science and culture in their native language.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Romania, Ihor Prokopchuk, during the ceremony emphasized the importance of the project, calling it an example of fruitful Ukrainian-Romanian cultural cooperation grounded in mutual respect and shared European values.
He also noted that the opening of the Ukrainian-language audio guide is a testament to the support for the Ukrainian community in Romania, especially internally displaced persons.
The ambassador expressed sincere thanks to the museum’s Director General Luisiu Ovidiu Popa for his assistance and ongoing support of Ukrainian visitors, as well as to all project partners for their cooperation.
The project is implemented in partnership with Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovych and the Ukrainian edition of Radio France Internationale.
