And, in truth, those charts DO seem to contradict one another. How can the stock market be setting highs seemingly every week even as people grow less and less confident in the state of the economy?

The answer, as you might expect, is sort of complicated.

I had been wondering about the relationship between the stock market and the economy for a while now and decided to do something about it. Below I shared what I found to explain this seeming conundrum.

As I do with all of these “explainer” pieces, I did my best to simply present the best-in-class information without any spin.
