PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – The Bay County Economic Development Alliance is pushing forward with several major projects that could create up to 2,000 new jobs across the region.

“We’re really concentrating now on getting the projects announced this year implemented,” said Bay EDA President Becca Hardin.

Hardin said the new positions will range from manufacturing to aviation and aerospace, bringing long-term benefits to the local economy.

“For every one primary economic development job that’s created, there’s a minimum spin-off of four in the economy,” she said. “If you’re successful with these primary projects, it has a global impact for a long time.”

The EDA is working closely with education and workforce partners to prepare local residents for the upcoming opportunities.

One of the major developments — Project Clear — is expected to add 150 new jobs and begin operations within 8 to 12 months. Others, like a large airport project, may take at least 18 months to complete construction.

Hardin said Bay County continues to see strong interest from companies looking to invest and expand in the area.
