CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — One area food bank is getting a big boost just in time for Thanksgiving.

The Giant Corporation — the parent company for Giant grocery stores — donated 250 turkeys to the State College Food Bank on Thursday.

Employees from the company also volunteered their time to help stock the shelves.

With the recent struggles and uncertainty in providing food to those in need, officials say the donation is a welcomed gift.

“We provide Thanksgiving for everyone we are serving here. We also provide Thanksgiving to all the surrounding county food pantries, and help provide turkeys, so this donation is always welcome and greatly appreciated this time of year.”
