Union nurses are grappling with Rochester Regional Health over changes to their health insurance.
In a statement, an RRH spokesperson says the health system is adjusting its 2026 benefits plan after receiving feedback from leaders and team members:
“Following the thoughtful and candid feedback we received from our leaders and team members this week, Rochester Regional Health has adjusted our 2026 benefits plan. Rochester Regional Health remains committed to listening to our team members, engaging in open, honest dialogue, and collaborating to find solutions going forward, while taking meaningful steps to ensure the long-term viability of the system for our patients.”
The move comes after the Rochester Union of Nurses and Allied Professionals filed a class-action grievance against RRH earlier this week, claiming the health system violated their contracts by cutting the CDHP+ plan from their health insurance.
In statement, the union says even with this new adjustment, too many members are set to see increasing premiums and out-of-pocket costs:
“RRH has released the first concrete movement on their disastrous health insurance changes. To the extent that it represents real movement, it is only because thousands of workers started organizing to make them. Everyone started acting like a union, and we started getting results. At the same time, it is not enough. Too many will still see sharp spikes in premiums and out-of-pocket costs, which will be unsustainable for too many families. RRH has not yet moved enough, and so we have to keep organizing! If everyone in the system was organized into a union, RRH never could have done this. We’re going to keep fighting because our coworkers need a larger union and a smaller administration.”
