Court vindicates Tsipras publisher

Publisher Gutenberg won a court victory against Documento newspaper over unauthorized excerpts from former prime minister Alexis Tsipras’ book “Ithaca.”

A judge issued a provisional order partially granting Gutenberg’s demands after Documento published an article titled “What Tsipras writes in the book about Nikos Pappas and television licenses.” The ruling mandates immediate removal of excerpts, prohibits presentation and digital distribution until official release, and bars reproduction, distribution and commercial exploitation of passages.

Gutenberg stated the excerpts “were obviously illegally obtained through theft of electronic files” and marked the publisher’s first legal action in its history. A hearing on protective measures is scheduled for April 20, 2026. Documento denies violating copyright protections.
