Greece and Serbia formalized a new framework for cooperation in the exhibition and tourism sectors with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding during the 40th Philoxenia tourism fair in Thessaloniki.

The agreement brings together TIF-Helexpo, Greece’s national exhibition organizer, the Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism of Vojvodina, and the Novi Sad Fair, the leading exhibition and conference venue in Serbia, creating a foundation for jointly developed initiatives and business exchanges.

The MoU was signed by TIF – Helexpo CEO Dr. Kyriakos Pozrikidis, Vojvodina’s Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism Nenad Ivanišević, and Novi Sad Fair CEO Slobodan Cvetcović, formerly Serbia’s Minister of Economy. The signing ceremony was attended by Serbia’s Consul General in Thessaloniki Jelena Vujić-Obradović, Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) President Angela Varela, and TIF-Helexpo President Tasos Tzikas.

During the signing, TIF-Helexpo’s Pozrikidis said that the cooperation is intended to translate into real projects, adding that both sides have the expertise needed to advance joint initiatives. He highlighted opportunities for Serbian participation in Greek exhibitions, including Agrotica, given Vojvodina’s strong agricultural sector.

Tzikas added that the long-standing relationship between the two countries provides a solid basis for deeper cooperation and the planning of future steps.

On his part, Ivanišević described the MoU as an important development and highlighted the close ties between Greek and Serbian communities. He stressed that Vojvodina should be represented at every TIF-Helexpo event and invited the Greek side to jointly prepare next-stage actions.

“We want to show you everything we have,” he said, extending an invitation for TIF-Helexpo to visit Serbia.

Cvetcović underlined the potential for TIF-Helexpo and the Novi Sad Fair to build strong exhibition links, while Serbia’s Consul General noted her country’s expanded presence at this year’s Philoxenia, with more Serbian cities participating than ever before.

Moreover, GNTO President Varela also referred to the strong bond between the two nations and the importance of further strengthening it.

According to TIF-Helexpo, the MoU marks the beginning of a coordinated effort to enhance exhibition collaboration and create new opportunities for business engagement between Greece and Serbia.
