Denmark level in Scotland; Wales lead North Macedonia in WC qualifying

After Scott McTominay’s overhead kick in the opening few minutes, Scotland are on track to reach the World Cup for the first time in over two decades.

An absolutely monumental second half will be required from Steve Clark’s men to get over the line.

A bit of a meaningless game for both sides with the group already all but decided. Still, La Roja will be frustrated with a goal conceded given they were on track for six clean sheets.

Wales have had a stellar first half with three goals after Brennan Johnson restored their two-goal advantage with a stellar strike.

It may only be enough for play-offs however due to results elsewhere not quite going their way.

Right before half time, Spain have conceded! After Dani Olmo’s opener, Deniz Gül finds the net as La Roja let one in for the first time in their qualifying campaign.

Belgium just cannot stop scoring and Jérémy Doku gets his second goal in quick succession to certainly put the result beyond doubt.

They have their second and that all but confirms top spot for the Belgian Red Flames. It’s Jérémy Doku with the goal just after the half hour mark.

Rasmus Højlund has the ball in the back of the net but the referee had blown for a foul. It’s quickly checked and cleared by VAR, but still a stark warning for the hosts.

The visitors are slowly crawling back into this.

That certainly didn’t take long. Just minutes after Wales got their second, North Macedonia have now pulled a goal back through Bojan Miovski.

After registering an assist for Scotland’s opening goal, Ben Gannon-Doak is now being stretchered off with an injury.

A win for Scotland tonight will secure their place at the World Cup for the first time since 1998 – essentially whoever wins between Scotland and Denmark will top the group, with the loser having to go through the play-offs.

Spain have already qualified and Turkey will finish second in the group, regardless of tonight’s result between the two nations.

Wales need a win to guarantee play-offs and will only qualify automatically if they win and Belgium lose.
