CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A Romanian man was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison for installing ATM skimmers.
In January and February of 2023, Danut Urseiu installed the skimmers at ATMs in Cincinnati, Green Township and Liberty Township.
The skimmers were used to steal information from cardholders and defraud financial institutions, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Urseiu was arrested for similar crimes in New York and Michigan.
Fingerprints on cameras placed with the skimming devices in the Cincinnati area matched Urseiu’s prints from the other arrests. His cell phones had photos of ATM skimming devices, recording devices and large amounts of cash.
