November 19 – The Bosnia and Herzegovina FA (NS/FS BiH) has confirmed the completion of the conceptual design for the National Stadium in Zenica. This development marks the official start of the realisation phase for one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the association’s history.
The project aims to provide modern facilities for all national teams and significantly enhance the overall sporting environment within Bosnian football.
NS/FS BiH President Vico Zeljković issued a statement expressing his satisfaction with the progress.
“I am pleased to share that the conceptual design for the national stadium in Zenica, the future infrastructure project of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been completed. This concept will serve as the basis for the subsequent preliminary design and the main project documentation,” Zeljković said.
The NS/FS BiH anticipates that the complete project documentation will be finalized by August 2026, after which construction work is planned to commence.
Zeljković stressed the long-term importance of the venture, not only for the national teams but also for the local club Celik: “This represents a crucial long-term step for the development of Bosnian-Herzegovinian football and the creation of higher quality conditions for all our selections. Furthermore, it will serve as the new home for Zenica’s Čelik.”
Regarding the project’s funding, Zeljković confirmed that while the financing model is yet to be fully defined, the Association is actively considering several sustainable models to ensure the project is realized to its full capacity. “We continue to work ambitiously, systematically, and responsibly,” Zeljković concluded.
