As part of efforts to combat illegal migration, employees of the Migration Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs detained a Turkish citizen, B.G., born in 1997, who was residing in the country without legal grounds. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
“As a result of close coordination between the Migration Department and the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was established that the detainee was wanted by the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Turkey at the national level for various crimes, including theft, bodily harm, fraud, and escape from prison.
The employees of the Migration Department carried out the expulsion procedure of the Turkish citizen through the ‘Vale’ border crossing point, where the detainee was handed over to representatives of the law enforcement authorities of the Republic of Turkey for further legal response.
The Migration Department regularly implements special immigration control measures to ensure effective enforcement of the Law of Georgia ‘On the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons,’” the statement said.
