[Intime News]

Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas has held a private meeting with the Cypriot President Nicos Christodoulides during his visit to Cyprus for the official celebration of Armed Forces Day.

Tasoulas thanked Christodoulides for the honor of awarding a decoration to the battle flag of the Hellenic Force in Cyprus (ELDYK). He said the recognition highlighted ELDYK’s decisive contribution in confronting Turkish aggression on the island during the 1963-64 period and the illegal Turkish invasion, particularly its role in preventing the complete capture of Nicosia by Turkish forces.

Tasoulas also discussed issues tied to the upcoming Cypriot Presidency of the European Council, including topics of mutual interest such as the drafting of the next Multiannual Financial Framework.

Christodoulides briefed Tasoulas on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, including his first meeting on Thursday with the newly elected leader of the Turkish Cypriot community in the occupied areas, Tufan Erhurman.
