Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today in Belgrade that Croatia and Slovenia were the main supporters of the proposal to lift European Union sanctions against Kosovo, while France and Hungary opposed it.

Vučić also said that Croatia has a “doctrinal strategy to weaken the Serbian state”, although, according to him, he “wishes everyone the best”.

He said that removing him from power is Croatia’s “priority goal” because, according to him, they consider him “the worst thing for their long-term interests.” According to Vučić, this also “implies that he is the best thing for Serbia.”

“I wish them well, I am convinced that Serbia and Croatia will have much better relations in the future,” he added, Croatian media outlet “Direktno” reports, broadcast by Klankosova.tv.

Vučić said that over the last year, over 25 texts against him have been published in Croatian media, only about 50 of which have been neutral and none positive.

He also criticized the fact that Serbia is not mentioning France’s role in supporting Serbia at this week’s meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, where Paris opposed the lifting of sanctions against Kosovo.

“France and Hungary opposed it and the proposal did not pass. The Hungarians here praise everyone because of (Prime Minister) Orban, but no one is saying that the French were also on our side, and they were. The Italians have also sent a letter to open Chapter 3 in the Serbia-EU negotiations. Why don’t you tell the citizens that France and Italy are our friends, despite the differences over Kosovo,” Vučić said.

He called on the citizens of Serbia not to call Germans “Nazis”, stressing that this “is not only not true, but causes great harm to Serbia”.
