  1. They need more hot Latino women playing leading roles. I reckon they’d sell more tickets too.

Many Latinos, such as James Roday (Rodriguez), disguise their heritage. I wonder if that throws the numbers.

  3. Is there data on how it breaks down by gender in addition to race? I’ve heard anecdotally that black women and Hispanic men are underrepresented while black men and Hispanic women are over. Curious if that’s true.

I agree with the other guy that it would be interesting to see this divided by gender AND race. Regardless, as it stands it is an amazing visualization and I like it very much. Well done!

  5. Yep, this is one thing you can clearly see, Hollywood is basically white and black. Which is really annoying because ignorant Americans are then surprised when foreign media does not have black representation but other groups which in the US would be classified as white, thus thinking there is no representation. Is annoying AF.

  6. Movies cost money to make. It’s harder for smaller minority groups to support a movie. Also, Whites and Blacks both speak English.

  7. I’d be curious about this for the UK. There are more than twice as many Asians here (usually Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi) as black people, but it feels the other way around in the casting for TV and adverts.
