The snow falling across Croatia today is causing serious problems in road traffic, blocking several roads and making vehicle movement difficult.

Meteorological website Crometeo has published a video from areas near Split and Klis, showing several cars stuck in the snow, creating difficult situations for drivers and causing significant delays on the road.

“Annual meeting of summer tire enthusiasts near Split,” the page writes next to the published video, ironically pointing out that many drivers have not taken the need for winter tires seriously, despite the weather conditions.

Although Dalmatia is not usually included in the areas where winter vehicle equipment is mandatory from November 15 to April 15, this duty becomes mandatory as soon as winter conditions are declared.

This occurs when there is snow or ice on the road, significantly increasing the risk of traffic accidents, reports index.hr.

Winter equipment means M+S type winter tires or four summer tires with at least 4 mm profile, as well as snow chains that must always be ready to be placed on the wheels of the moving vehicle.

Authorities advise drivers to prepare in advance and not set off on long journeys without checking the condition of the roads and winter equipment, to avoid dangerous situations on the road. /Meteobalkan/
