LDK Presidency member Muhamet Hamiti has criticized the 20-year behavior of VV. He assessed that Albin Kurti’s party has had a history of violent opposition to political processes in pre-independence and post-independence Kosovo since 2005.

On his Facebook profile, Hamiti wrote that on December 28, Kosovo must escape Albin Kurti’s trap.

“In the 20 years of its existence, since 2005, Albin Kurti’s Vetëvendosje Movement (VV) has a history of violent opposition to the political processes in Kosovo, both pre-independence and post-independence. On January 26, 2006, on the day President Ibrahim Rugova was buried, who was honored that day by hundreds of thousands of Albanians, as well as friends from all over the world, VV called Ibrahim Rugova a “collaborator”. On February 17, 2008, when all Albanians and our friends celebrated with us the declaration of Kosovo’s independence, VV was the only Albanian political formation that did not celebrate. Serbs burned down border posts after the declaration of independence,” he wrote, adding that VV, even as an opposition, has committed violent acts.

“When it was in opposition, for “great causes”, Vetevendosje has exercised violence against Kosovo institutions. Its activists with hand-held rocket launchers have carried out an attack on the Kosovo Assembly on August 4, 2016, which the Prosecution had qualified as a terrorist act. Many VV deputies have gone through lengthy court processes for the use of tear gas in the Assembly. One of these cases in the Assembly hall on August 10, 2016. We all remember the ugly scenes, the dangerous scenes. The judiciary has been lenient with them. In some cases, even when they have admitted the crime, the court has declared them innocent. Glauk Konjufca was surprised himself when he was acquitted of the charges in 2024,” Hamiti wrote.
