Rooney is headed back to AHL Tucson, the team announced Sunday.
Rooney was a healthy scratch for the entirety of this stint at the NHL and is still seeking his first NHL appearance of the season. Last year, the 32-year-old played in 70 games, so this year has been a change. He’ll get some more games in with AHL Tucson now where he has three goals and an assist in six games.
