Additional Election Commissioner Nangsa Choedon Holds a Series of Election Awareness Programmes in Switzerland
Switzerland: On 21 November 2025, Additional Election Commissioner Nangsa Choedon delivered a detailed briefing on the electoral rules to regional election officers of Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein in preparation for the upcoming 2025–2026 Sikyong and 18th Tibetan Parliamentary Elections. Other regional election officers from Germany, Austria, and Italy also joined the session online.
During the briefing, Additional Election Commissioner Nangsa Choedon outlined the evolution of Tibetan democracy, the significance of public participation in the general elections, and key aspects of the electoral rules and procedures. She further addressed questions raised by regional election officers.
On the morning of 22 November at 10:00 in Zurich, members of the Tibetan community in Switzerland and Liechtenstein gathered for a public address session. Representative cum Local Election Commissioner Thinley Choekyi introduced Additional Election Commissioner Nangsa Choedon and the constituencies under jurisdiction of Tibet Bureau, Geneva.
The Vice President of the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Kangrang Kalsang Namgyal, then offered a traditional khatag to welcome the guests. The Additional Election Commissioner greeted the community and spoke on the essential electoral rules and key guidelines.
Additional Election Commissioner Nangsa Choedon explained the purpose of the electoral rules, emphasising that all regional election officers and voters must uphold integrity, equality, freedom, and confidentiality throughout the 2025–2026 Sikyong and 18th Tibetan Parliamentary Elections. She stressed the shared responsibility involved in the electoral process and highlighted the urgent task of completing voter registration. She also noted that the election schedule for the Sikyong and 18th Tibetan Parliamentary Elections had been finalised and publicly announced, underlining the importance of active public participation.
Furthermore, she provided detailed explanations regarding penalties for interference and other procedures outlined in the Election Commission’s regulations. Following the question-and-answer session with the public, Additional Election Commissioner Nangsa Choedon continued onwards to Belgium in the afternoon, as scheduled.
