WARSAW (Reuters) -Poland chose Sweden to supply it with three submarines, Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Wednesday, in a multi-billion dollar deal that forms a key element of Warsaw’s efforts to bolster its defences on the Baltic Sea.
Warsaw has been ramping up investments in the armed forces since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, and the deal under the ‘Orka’ submarine programme is one of the biggest so among a raft of purchases.
