this is reasonable example of where secrecy is valid.
However, once/if the prototype is successful, then it should be fully disclosed.
That’s how democracy functions.

Is this Brilliant Pebbles reborn? Seemed outlandish when first conceived, but with the pace of launches these days, it seems possibly feasible.

A mechanism that stops nuclear missiles cannot come soon enough, the idea that currently the whole of society/civilisation as we know it could be ended due to MAD and there’s nothing I can do about it is terrifying

This effort requires a huge amount of sensor fusion, most of the source data coming from an overwatch platform. The new Star Shield that is going up is part of the data network that will pass that detection telemetry to the weapon delivery platform.
But this will only work against rogue nuclear launches, because any offensive capable nuclear country would most definitely launch a benign looking “blinder” to flood the LEO with an EMR pulse and render the overwatch and its telemetry network inoperable.
It is believed that a recent Russian Kosmos spysat performed a test on one of its own sats to validate a smaller approach to rendering overwatch sats inoperable. In fact last year, the Russian’s caused the stir when just after a US NRO sat was launched, they waited until its polar orbit came over Russian LEO and they immediately launched a Kosmos that inserted itself right behind the NRO sat in orbit. Why the big deal? The Russian launch did not follow the accepted global rule of announcing launches in advance.
This alarmed the USSF as they could not tell if the launch and its path was an intended sat kill or just the usual butt sniff launch.

The only result of space-based boost phase interceptor development is countries withdrawing from the open space treaty and putting reentry vehicles carrying nukes into orbit during peace time to be deorbited onto their opponents during war.
Trying to defeat MAD is a fool’s game that only brings us all closer to nuclear annihilation.

An issue that comes up is if this interceptor is good enough to credibly threaten China or Russia’s nuclear deterrent, one of them may be pushed into a “Use it or Lose it scenario” before this defense system is fully online.

Reagan’s Star Wars is back!
Please note: It was always a scam/bluff and was never intended to be built, but HUGE amounts of money were spent anyway
So secretive that it is even on Reddit!
No way they turned star shield into brilliant pebble it’s almost like they had some kind of long term plan or something.
