Canterbury goalkeeper Mackenzie Falco has been called into the Futsal Ferns squad as a replacement for Hannah Hegarty, who has withdrawn from the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup due to illness.
Falco’s addition to the squad was too late for Wednesday’s group match against Thailand but she is expected to be available for the final pool game on Saturday when New Zealand face Portugal.
New Zealand have lost both their games so far at the tournament in the Philippines, losing 6-0 to Japan in their opener and losing 4-2 to Tanzania.
