A lot of precipitation – snow, freezing rain and rain in the west – are expected on Thursday, the Latvian Centre for Environment, Geology and Meteorology said.
The weather will be cloudy during the day, with clearing skies in the west.
In central and eastern areas, snow will continue to fall in the morning and snow cover will increase by three to five centimetres in places. Icy conditions will also develop in places in the east during the first half of the day.
The wind will be mostly mild and the air temperature will be -2 to +2 C, +2 to +5 C on the Kurzeme coast.
In the capital, Thursday will be mostly cloudy with snow and sleet. Snow cover is expected to increase by two to four centimetres. Precipitation will taper off towards the evening.
Streets and pavements in parts of Riga will also be slippery. There will be a light breeze, and temperatures will be around 0 degrees.
