November 27 – The Football Federation of North Macedonia (FFM), the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in North Macedonia, and the Ministry of Sport presented the first Spanish-Macedonian “LaLiga Football Dictionary.” The joint project was realised in cooperation with the Cervantes Institute.

The event was attended by FFM President Massar Omeragik, Minister of Sport of North Macedonia Borko Ristovski, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain Rafael Soriano Ortiz, and a representative of the Spanish LaLiga for Southeast Europe.

FFM President Massar Omeragik emphasised that the project serves as a bridge for cooperation with one of Europe’s strongest football leagues.

“The Spanish-Macedonian Football Dictionary is a publication that offers a rich sports vocabulary and serves as a tool for learning, communication, and connection. Football is a universal language, and with projects like this, together with the Ministry of Sport and the Spanish Embassy, we are building bridges between our two cultures and opening up new opportunities for collaboration,” Omeragikj stated.

He also noted that this is the beginning of a broader partnership. “In addition to the dictionary, we plan future projects for the education and training of young coaches through partnerships with Spanish clubs and LaLiga programs,” Omeragikj added.

Minister of Sport Borko Ristovski praised the dictionary, describing the initiative as having a significant role in developing the sport and strengthening the ties between the two nations.

“A big thank you to the Ambassador of Spain, Rafael Soriano Ortiz, who is also a friend of mine, for his continuous commitment to deepening cooperation between North Macedonia and Spain.

“Football and sport are a universal language, and projects like these create new opportunities, new bridges, and new partnerships. The Ministry of Sport firmly stood behind this project, which we believe is only the beginning of even more intensive cooperation with our friends from Spain,” said Ristovski.

Spanish Ambassador Rafael Soriano Ortiz emphasised that the embassy’s primary objective is to foster closer ties between the two countries and to promote national identity through sports.

“Today, we are doing that by combining sport and language. This football dictionary recognizes the importance of the Spanish LaLiga and is one way to highlight what best represents our national identity, and that is our languages,” the Spanish Ambassador pointed out.
