WAIKIKI, Hawaii (Island News) — The Honolulu Marathon Clinic hosted its 50th Turkey Trot with a big turnout of festive runners at Kapiolani Park on Thanksgiving morning.
More than 1,770 people participated in this year’s Turkey Trot which took place from 7 to 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27. The holiday run included more than just local runners, including mainland and international participants from places like Korea, Japan, Great Britain, Canada, Germany and Australia.
The fun run events part of the 2025 Turkey Trot included:
- 1-Mile Turkey Chase – Catch the turkey-costumed sprinter (Kapiolani Park)
- 5-Mile Run (Kapiolani Park to Fort Ruger Park, also known as Triangle Park, and back)
- 5K “With Stuffing” (twice around Kapiolani Park, 5.8 kilometers, the extra 0.8K is the stuffing)
- 1.8-mile Family Fun Run/Walk (once around Kapiolani Park)
- Costume Contest: Thanksgiving-themed costumes (Kapiolani Park Bandstand)
The Kapiolani Park Bandstand served as the finish line where prizes were awarded to runners and walkers.
Entry fees go towards the Turkey Trot event along with supporting the Honolulu Marathon Clinic. Although the nonprofit is not associated with the Honolulu Marathon, its goal is to train people for the marathon while supporting year-round running club activities. Hawaii’s largest running club, the Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club, also helped to sponsor the Thanksgiving event.
