Switzerland vs Turkey Preview

Switzerland has never qualified for the World Cup, and they came very close to opening this window with a sensational win over Serbia. Their excellent shooting in the first half gave them a 23-point lead, but they could not handle Serbia’s more aggressive defense in the second half and lost in the finish 86–90. This game showed that they have a good pick-and-roll game, which caused major problems for the opponent, but it is clear that they are weak in rebounding. They struggle to properly box out and lack physical strength, which will be a particular problem against Turkey in the next matchup. Switzerland has already passed two qualification rounds in which they had a perfect home record, but the opponents were much weaker than the teams they are facing now.

The most valuable player of this team in the qualifiers, as well as in the game against Serbia, was Selim Fofana. Alex Schumacher also played an excellent game, organizing the offense very well, but it is clear that he has no proper backup and that his time on the bench creates big problems. He runs the pick-and-roll well and has especially good chemistry with Yasmin Mambo. In addition to these players, Paul Gravet should also be noted, as he showed against Serbia that he is a good shooter. The coaching staff is doing a good job, and these games will be a valuable experience for them.

Turkey started these qualifiers convincingly, defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina 93–71, even though the opponent put up strong resistance for three quarters. Still, excellent three-point shooting and domination in rebounding (39–25) secured a comfortable win for the finalist of the last European Championship. The team coached by Ergin Ataman showed that, despite the absence of their biggest star Alperen Sengun, they have a great roster for these windows, especially since most of their main rivals are significantly weakened. An important factor for Turkey is also the reconciliation between the coach and Fenerbahce, meaning players from that club are once again available for the national team.

This was evident already in the first qualification game, where the team’s top scorer was Tarik Biberovic, who scored 20 points. The national team has a great mix of youth and experience. Kenan Sipahi is one of the most experienced players, fully team-oriented and important in every aspect of the game. Against Bosnia he scored 12 points, dished nine assists, and grabbed five rebounds. Sehmus Hazer also contributed. Turkey can fully rely on a very strong frontcourt. Omer Yurtseven has recovered and will be important in helping Ercan Osmani and Sertac Sanli. Unlike other national teams, they have great depth in rotation during these windows.

This will be their first head-to-head meeting.

Injuries and Suspensions

Switzerland will be without Clint Capela. Turkey cannot count on Alperen Sengun, while Cedi Osman is injured. Before the trip, Muhsin Yasar and Yigit Onan were removed from the extended roster, while Onuralp Bitim stayed in Turkey as a precaution due to injury.

Where to Watch Switzerland vs Turkey?

Switzerland vs Turkey Best Betting Tip and Prediction

witzerland showed in the first game that they have solid offensive potential, especially because they can play without pressure and try to surprise the favorites. They shot well from three against Serbia. Turkey played a quality game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they were very efficient, so a similar performance can be expected in this road game as well. They have excellent roster depth, and they will have a clear advantage at the center positions, where they can use their quality and wider rotation. We expect a game played at a faster pace and with a higher number of points.
