There’s something for everyone once December gets rolling. Here are eight events during the first week of December in Shreveport and Bossier City.
World premiere screening of “Portal in the Pines”
The feature film “Portal in the Pines” will have its world premiere in Shreveport. The horror movie was filmed at Camp Minden, about a rural fireman who discovers that a secret particle collider has opened a portal to hell. “Portal on the Pines” was written and directed by Shreveport native Eric Gibson. The film stars Garrett Kruithof, Jamie Kennedy, Patrick Kirton, Tim Smith, Terry Nelson and Ted Ferguson. See the trailer online here.
The premier will be at 7 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Robinson Film Center, 617 Texas St., Shreveport. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. Purchase tickets online here.

Two holiday exhibitions at R.W. Norton Art Gallery
The holiday exhibits, “A Storybook Christmas” and “Yuletide: Holiday Favorites” will open at the R.W. Norton Art Gallery on Dec. 4.
According to Norton, “A Storybook Christmas” celebrates the wonder, nostalgia, and timeless charm of beloved holiday tales and characters. “Yuletide: Holiday Favorites from the Norton” features a curated selection of festive artworks from the museum’s permanent collection that evoke the warmth, nostalgia, and joy of the holiday season in both traditional and contemporary works.
The opening reception for both exhibits is free and open to the public from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Dec. 4. at R.W. Norton Art Gallery, 4747 Creswell Ave., Shreveport. Both exhibits will be open through Jan. 11.

10th annual Tinsel holiday shopping experience
Tinsel is a festive after-hours shopping experience complete with complimentary food, drinks, live entertainment and exclusive in-store discounts. Shoppers will begin and end at Superior’s Steakhouse, 855 Pierremont, Shreveport, and be shuttled to and from Line Avenue shops and boutiques.
Tinsel will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 5. Tickets are available online here.

Annual BPCC holiday show
The Bossier Parish Community College Christmas show which has been part of local holiday events for more than 30 years will present three performances of The BPCC Christmas Show “Santa’s Christmas Dream.”
The annual show includes students, faculty, and staff, and children can meet Santa following the performance.
The three shows will be at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 and 6 and at 1 p.m. on Dec. 7 at the Stephen W. Slaughter Theatre in Building C at BPCC, 6220 E. Texas St., Bossier City.
Tickets are $2 and may be reserved online here. Guests are encouraged to bring canned food donations for the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana.

15th annual Bloody Mary Bash at Nader’s Gallery
Nader’s Gallery is kicking off the holiday season with the annual Bloody Mary shopping event.
Guests are invited to sip Nader’s famous handcrafted Bloody Marys and shop exclusive event-day savings at one of Shreveport’s oldest local businesses. The event will also feature special guests serving their own Bloody Mary recipes for a bit of friendly competition. “This is truly our favorite event of the year,” owner Edward Nader said.
This free event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 6 at Nader’s Gallery, 524 East Kings Highway., Shreveport.

East Bank Cultural District holiday market
Experience the lighted East Bank Christmas tree, shopping, local artists, makers and crafters, food trucks and live holiday music performed by students in the Bossier Talented Arts Program.
The free event will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 6 in the East Bank 600 block of Barksdale Blvd., Bossier City.

Centenary College Bicentennial Gala
Don your cocktail attire for the gala in honor of 200 years of Centenary College, including dinner, open bar, Centenary College Choir performance, DJ and dancing, and a special drone show by Sky Elements (weather permitting).
The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 at The Gold Dome, 3482 Dixie Dr., Shreveport. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

See “Elf” the movie with live music
See the beloved Christmas film “Elf” in high-definition, with the music score performed live by members of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra.
“Elf” will play at 3 p.m. on Dec. 7 at The Strand Theatre, 619 Louisiana Ave., Shreveport.
