  1. Am I the only peron that dislikes the shuttle? Such a badly executed bad idea, a waist of lives and resources. 

  2. I grew up nearby in the early 2000s when it opened, they had halloween nights for kids and an ATC tower you could go up inside. I think I took seeing the shuttle up close for granted until recently🥺

  3. I have been told as you walk around the shuttle you can smell space?

    And by the way, the Discovery should stay right where it is…….

  4. The shuttle belongs there. All of america pooled its resources together to design, build, and put her into space. It’s a national treasure and belongs to every American. The Smithsonian is the right place to display her.

    Great pic, but you don’t get a sense for how massive it is until you are standing there and gawking at its immense size. Pretty astounding piece of technology for something that started being developed in the late 1960s.
