PDK Chairman and candidate for Prime Minister, Bedri Hamza, has stated that his two-day visit to Washington DC has been essential for presenting his vision for the development of Kosovo and for rekindling the strategic partnership with the United States of America.

Hamza said that the agenda was “intensive”, and considered it vital that in his meetings he convey a clear message about the future of the country.

“I considered it vital to present my vision for the development of our Republic and the rebuilding of the deep partnership between Kosovo and the American administration,” he stated.

During the visit, Hamza met with senior officials from the White House, National Security Council, and State Department. He was also invited to a special meeting at the Heritage Foundation, hosted by James Carafano, Senior Advisor to President Trump.

The meeting was also attended by Anthony Kim, editor of the Index of Economic Freedom, and Max Primorack, an expert on security issues.

Hamza said that he returned from these meetings with optimism about the future of Kosovo-US relations.

“I came back extremely positive about the inexhaustible possibilities of cooperation between Kosovo and the US,” he said, citing the period of “lack of communication and suspension of strategic dialogue” as problematic.

Finally, the candidate for prime minister emphasized that the country aims to increase cooperation with the US in key areas of development.

“Kosovo will return to Washington stronger than ever, with concrete projects, tangible investments and the involvement of the US in Kosovo’s rapid development in diplomacy, economy, energy sector, military and intelligence,” said Hamza.
